ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager - Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness, the Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness Assistant is responsible for providing efficient and exceptional customer service to the organization.  Provides transactional support related to occupational health, safety, and wellness services, including, but not limited to emergency planning, claims management, workplace violence, wellness and recognition, and staff education.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma in health science, health promotion public health, health and safety, Human Resources or related discipline
  • Experience working in Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion and Ergonomics
  • Additional related education/certificates (ie. Mental Health First Aid, JOHS Certification Training Level 1 and 2)
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret occupational health and safety legislation (ie. Occupational Health and Safety Act)
  • Experience developing and delivering, communicating and facilitating educational materials related to health, safety and wellness programs
  • Minimum two years of related experience preferably in a healthcare setting

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated history of interprofessional collaboration and customer service focus
  • Proficient in relevant software applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, Canva, Power point and Content Management systems is essential
  • Excellent time management skills, demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

 

Assets:

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety software considered an asset
  • Certification in Respiratory Protection Training (Fit Testing) is an asset

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
  • Ability to travel to various work locations as required and provide own transportation
